  <What is a direct job project>
  The ‘Direct Job Project’ promoted by the government is a project in which the government provides budgetary support for those who want to work so that they can gain work experience in private companies or public institutions for a certain period of time. The direct job project is a project that provides jobs to vulnerable groups such as the elderly, low-income class, and the disabled, who have difficulties in entering the private labor market, and serves as a stepping stone to livelihood stability and entry into private jobs.

  <Early execution of the direct job budget>
  Recently, the government held a “policy review meeting, etc.” presided over by the Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance, and decided to directly implement the job creation project before construction. Among the direct job projects, 150,000 senior citizens have been placed in the workplace since early January.
  In addition, each local government enters the recruitment process, such as announcing the “regional-led youth job recruitment project recruitment notice” in January. In 2021, the government provided a total of 1.04 million direct jobs in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
  From last month, seven ministries, including the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Employment and Employment, have issued the first integrated notice for direct job projects for 870,000 people, and the second notice will be implemented within this month. In particular, since the recruitment notice was announced at the end of November last year, 150,000 senior citizens have started working for the elderly job project. It plans to hire more than 600,000 people by the end of January, including self-support work and job opportunities for the disabled.

  Recently, Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, started the project with the '2022 Job Opening Ceremony for the Disabled. The Disabled Jobs Project is a project that provides jobs in the public sector for registered disabled people over the age of 18, expands opportunities for social participation, and guarantees income by finding jobs that match their aptitudes and abilities.
  This project will be carried out at 57 institutions, including Dong-gu Office, Dong Administrative Welfare Center, Welfare Center, Court/Prosecutor's Office, and small library, with an investment of about 2.3 billion won from the national and municipal funds. A total of 175 people, including administrative assistants, welfare service support personnel, environmental cleanup, librarian assistance, security equipment cleaning and disinfection business, and parking guidance for the disabled, total 175 people including 67 general type and 93 welfare workers. Compared to the previous year, the number of participants increased by 60, and the budget increased by 83 million won.

  There are many direct jobs that are easy for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, low-income groups, and the disabled to participate. This is because, as a Korean-style New Deal project, the government directly pays salaries to strengthen employment and social safety nets. It's a government job, so it won't make a lot of money, but it's relatively easy.
  Among them, ‘safety and health guard’ is a job that young adults 55 years of age or older can participate in. Safety and health guards who use retired personnel from the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency to protect occupational safety mainly work in the construction and shipbuilding industries.
  Safety and Health Guard is a policy to create jobs for middle-aged people who have difficulties in finding employment by preventing safety accidents and industrial accidents that may occur in industrial sites by using retired personnel with field experience.
  The safety and health keeper is a disaster prevention expert guidance organization targeting small and medium-sized industries (less than KRW 12 billion) with relatively weak safety management among construction sites, safety, and shipbuilding across the country, and monitoring work using firearms such as welding and carpeting at all times. and high-risk sites among the sites that provide technical guidance to private entrusted organizations, monitor the implementation of the pointed out matters. The working conditions are the minimum wage, and 130,000 won for lunch and 400,000 won for welfare points are paid at a time. They work as a team of two and the working period is 4 to 10 months.

  <Challenge for jobs tailored to local industries>
  If you are a young person who is having difficulty finding a job, I would like you to challenge the ‘local industry-tailored job’. These projects include high school graduate work experience support, youth specialized training, and job change support. In consideration of the local youth workforce demand, various business types such as training and employment links are combined and supported in a package. Considering the local labor market situation, young people who have difficulty finding employment may be included in the support target.
  This project is an employment policy led by the region who knows the region best in order to solve the limitations caused by regional differences in economic and employment conditions. In the meantime, for this project, when a local government proposes a local job project for job creation and human resource development tailored to the characteristics of each region and industry, the Ministry of Employment and Labor selected and supported the project. For example, the Hanok Cultural Center located in Jongno-gu, Seoul implemented the ‘Craftsman Matching Project to Foster Hanok Skilled Personnel’.

  <Contest for job creation support project>
  Gwangju Metropolitan City will open a public contest for the ‘general local industry-tailored job creation support project’ for autonomous districts. Until last year, the Ministry of Employment and Labor held a public contest and applied directly to local governments, but from this year on, metropolitan governments have been pushing for public offerings. Through an open call for autonomous districts, the city will comprehensively review, select, and support projects by cooperating with local and industrial employment-related organizations and organizations to discover and submit a project suitable for the characteristics of the industry in the autonomous district.
  The scale of support is 906 million won, with 10% of the response fund being paid by the autonomous district, and it is implemented in five types: education and training, employment-related projects, support for start-ups and founding jobs, sandboxes, and other projects. The education and training project is an education/training and employment promotion project that is implemented to nurture manpower to meet local industrial needs and to solve local employment problems. The employment-related business is a business that supports smooth job search and job matching according to the demand of local industries, and the support for start-up and found a job is support through basic education and consulting for start-up and founding a job. The application deadline is February 11, and the details of the contest for the autonomous district support project can be found on the city website’s Notice/Announcement section.
  Once the autonomous district has applied for and selected the ‘local industry-tailored job creation support project’, it will soon recruit people to participate. Last year, Seo-gu promoted ‘Yangdong Madang, a traditional market-specialized start-up incubation platform’ as this project. 3 out of 4 founders opened a store in Yangdong Market, and all 8 participants succeeded in finding a job or starting a business. Seo-gu plans to focus on discovering and fostering digital and non-face-to-face startup models that adapt to the new distribution environment in line with the post-corona era.
